Unilever Colworth
Unilever (in conjunction with Goodman) is using Colworth’s excellent infrastructure and available space to develop the site into a world-class science park that will be open to businesses outside Unilever.
Diverse skills
Colworth currently focuses on a number of areas aligned to Unilever’s global business. It employs over 700 scientists, technologists, legal professionals and support staff with a diverse range of skills in various fields:
- Corporate Research - accessing the latest developments in science to deliver new business opportunities for Unilever.
- Life Science - exploring how advanced molecular and cellular biology can be used to create new benefits for foods, and for home and personal care products like deodorants, washing powders and toothpaste.
- Safety and Environmental Assurance Centre (SEAC) - Unilever's corporate expertise centre, which focuses on safety for consumers, staff and the environment.
- Foods – two Global Centres of Excellence are located at Colworth - Drinks & Iced Foods. They are responsible for product & packaging development for some of
Unilever’s biggest brands. They develop technology to enable product differentiation in the marketplace. Specialised skills include chemical/biochemical engineering, nutrition, regulatory affairs and consumer science.
- Unilever Intellectual Property Group – Unilever’s most valuable assets are not only its employees, but also the ideas they generate
- The Scientific Services group – this group consists of two departments: Measurement Science and Knowledge & Information Science. The group provides diverse skills including Physical, Biological, Sensory, Knowledge, Data and Information sciences to develop solutions for the rest of the on-site business and groups
- Sustainable Agriculture – Colworth plays a key role in Unilever’s global sustainable agriculture initiative.
