Al and monkey bring back the monkey magic

08/01/2007 : Everyone remembers the PG Tips' chimps adverts – they were some of the most popular of all time, starting in 1956 and running for almost 50 years. Favourites included Mr Shifter ('Do you know the piano's on my foot, dad?') and the Tour de France ('Avez vous un cuppa?').

The chimps retired in 2002 but this January the PG Tips brand will bring some of that “Monkey Magic” back to our screens with a series of four new adverts starring the comedian, Johnny Vegas as Al, and his quick-witted woollen sidekick, Monkey (voiced by Ben Miller).

Al and Monkey will be bringing a little simian sparkle to PG Tips this year. The comedy duo is set to have TV’s biggest comeback since Noel Edmonds. You can see Monkey and Al’s reunion on ITV at 8.45pm on Monday 8th January.

PG Tips has a great heritage in creating some world-class advertising, which is why they have decided to bring back the iconic duo Monkey and Al. The TV advertising uses humour to communicate messages about tea, just as PG tips always has done from the Chimps to the T-Birds.
