Professional skills
Training takes place both at your company and on a national level with other graduates.
Professional Skills is the first of a series of programmes that continues as you develop. These are courses that often target specific areas of professional development, such as:
Marketing
- Marketing Foundation Programme
- Brand Building Excellence
- Integrated Brand Communication
Finance
- Finance Academy Foundation Programme
- Value Creation Workshop
- Innovative Business Partnering
Professional qualifications
In some functions you study for professional qualifications, such as CIMA for Financial Management and CIPD for Human Resources. We also support Supply Chain graduates in gaining Chartered Engineer status (IEE, IMechE and IChemE).
Of course, we recognise that people joining the Unilever Graduate Leadership Programme come from a number of backgrounds. Some will have experience of business; others will not. So we offer a firm grounding, with business induction programmes. Through these you learn about your operating company and gain a broad overview of Unilever’s corporate strategy and growth objectives.
Business skills development
During your first year you also take part in a one-week business skills development course. This provides exposure to contemporary management thinking and practice, helping you understand how business in general - and Unilever in particular - works. It’s also a chance to practice new skills and work with live business issues.
Finally, you’ll also learn a range of enabling skills that support your development as a manager. These include interviewing skills and positive influencing techniques.
