Senior market insight manager

Main job purpose: To provide excellent consumer and market based consulting to guide brand strategy, innovation & general business growth. 

Key accountabilities

  • Continually monitor and advise on general market trends impacting on our brands and business. Provide genuine foresight to help predict future market developments
  • Monitor performance of our brands and markets versus our competitors, provide recommendations for improvement
  • Ensure that brand strategy and activation is based on sound and insightful market understanding
  • Plan, optimise and focus research resources and programme, in line with strategic business priorities
  • Provide best-practice research solutions – fully exploiting both existing learning and new approaches
  • Provide clear, timely and insightful summaries of brand and business performance for Board and Marketing Managers
  • Drive the use and development of market insight throughout the business

Knowledge, skills & experience

  • Solid grounding in consumer and market understanding techniques
  • Familiarity with continuous data sources, including panel and retail audit
  • Ability to distil complex market data and analysis into clear and actionable recommendations
  • 6+ years experience of continuous market research on either agency or client-side
  • Continuous agency and budget management
  • Experience in agency negotiation
  • Working knowledge of ad hoc research techniques

  • Someone who has the ability to support and nurture marketing ideas, but who also has the bravery and personal integrity to challenge these when required
  • A thirst to continually develop expertise in defined research areas and use this to develop colleagues and enhance the role of consumer market insight across the business
  • The ability to communicate complex data in a compelling and simple way   

Package

Dependant on experience and size of brand and role:

  • Package of circa £57K + (inclusive of car or car allowance, final salary pension and private healthcare)
  • Potential annual bonus of up to 40% of annual salary, dependant on business and individual performance
