Celebrating age & beauty

There's a bewildering range of anti-aging treatments on offer. But perhaps one of the most effective is the simplest: taking good care of yourself.

Botox, collagen implants, dermal fillers, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, surgical facelifts… There's no shortage of ways to try to disguise the signs of a process that is as natural as it is inevitable: aging.

As you enter your forties and fifties, your skin becomes drier, less elastic and more uneven in tone. Fine wrinkles may be followed by deeper lines, especially around the mouth and eyes. Underlying muscle becomes less firm causing changes in the shape of your face and body.

Should you do everything you can to preserve your youthful looks, or is there another way? Could focusing on the positives of aging, rather then fighting against them, be a healthier, more helpful approach – for mind and body?

Learn to love your age

This doesn't mean "letting yourself go", just accepting that age can bring wisdom, experience and contentment, along with greying hair and wrinkles. Age is part of what makes you beautiful, not an imperfection that needs to be corrected. The first step in looking great is feeling great.

Eat healthily and take regular exercise to keep in shape, but remember that beauty is about more than your body. Be open to new ideas and experiences. Look on aging as an adventure: explore new activities, travel to new places, seek out new people, acquire new skills.

Look after yourself

Whatever your age, you have a right to look stunning. Don't fret about your skin, but do pamper it. Help it from the inside by drinking lots of water for hydration and including fresh fruit and vegetables in your daily diet. And to protect it on the outside, use a rich, protective moisturiser with sunscreen during the day and nutrient-rich cream at night.

The Dove pro.age range is specially formulated to nourish and condition, and helps revive and renew skin and hair. Pro.age celebrates beauty at every age and stands for a positive approach to taking great care of yourself and looking your best.
