You've cleaned your hygiene hotspots, but what about those hard-to-reach areas?  Here's how to avoid sharing your home with uninvited guests.

Disinfecting frequently touched items such as handles and taps certainly keeps germs under control. But nasty things can still lurk in those undisturbed corners of your home. It's not just bacteria – fungi, mites, cockroaches, mice and rats all like to breed in places that are dark, warm and humid.

So maybe it's time to investigate those less-visible areas.

In the store cupboard

Items such as flour can attract mites and weevils. Turn out your cupboards regularly, throw away anything that's past its 'best before' date and wipe down interior shelves and surfaces with Domestos Bleach Cleaning Spray.

Let cupboards dry thoroughly before refilling them. Storing dry goods in sealed plastic containers or tins can help to discourage pests.

Under the cooker & fridge

Surrounded by scraps, spills and spatters – your appliances could provide a feast for pests. If you have a free-standing cooker or fridge, don't forget to clean the floor underneath on a regular basis. Sweep up crumbs then mop with warm water to which you've added a squirt or two of Domestos Thick Bleach.

High corners & crevices

A mop is an easy way to get to hard-to-reach dirt, while Domestos Hygienic Wipes make short work of awkward items like dusty light fittings.

Be sure to take care when moving heavy items and use a step-ladder when reaching up to ceilings and tall cupboards. Always unplug appliances before cleaning them.

In the toilet

You probably clean your toilet regularly, but watch out for the build-up of limescale – its rough surface can trap waste and harbour germs. Use Domestos Zero Limescale to dissolve deposits and wipe out germs. It's up to three times thicker than other toilet limescale removers and grips to surfaces below the waterline. For best results, squirt all over the bowl and leave for 30 minutes.
